BioTek Concentrates on Microplate Business

Teilen:

BioTek Instruments, a division of Lionheart Technologies, Inc., confirmed that it will be discontinuing its HPLC and double beam Spectrophotometry businesses, to focus on its highly successful microplate instrumentation, software and robotic systems, which serve the rapidly expanding biotechnology and drug discovery markets.

Bio-Tek has secured servicing arrangements for the installed HPLC and Spectroscopy customers in most territories and will finalize all territories shortly. This will ensure warranty and non-warranty service is available during the normal lifetime of products in the field. Bio-Tek is also finalizing the sale of the Uvikon spectroscopy line at this time to a European manufacturer.

According to Mr. Briar Alpert, President of Lionheart Technologies, Inc., this ?strategic focus on microplate-based solutions will bring more innovation and value to our customers.? Mr Alpert also reported ?The remarkable growth of our microplate business, over 20% in certain markets last year, encouraged us to focus our full attention on meeting the emerging requirements of this high growth, competitive market. We are increasingly being recognized as a market leader in all facets of the microplate instrument and data management market.?

For example, over the past 24 months Bio-Tek has successfully introduced the PowerWave HT (Microplate spectrophotometer), Fastrack (robotic arm and stacker), µFill (standalone microplate dispenser), and Precision 2000 (automated 384/96 well pipetting work station). At Lab Automation in Palm Springs, Bio-Tek introduced the well-received Synergy HT, a new multidetection system that supports absorbance, luminescence, and fluorescence measurement within a high throughput or drug discovery environment. In addition, Bio-Tek introduced an advanced software module, within their premier data management software KC 4, to meet the FDA?s Rule 11 CFR 21 requirement for electronic signatures and audit trail documentation.

Bio-Tek has designated their German subsidiary to act as the European Coordination Center to insure proper technical, applications, and service support for their microplate customers throughout Europe.
