Bruker AXS Announces Agreement to Acquire Elemental Analysis Company JUWE Laborgeraete GmbH
Bruker AXS GmbH announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire all of the equity of privately-held JUWE Laborgeraete GmbH from its founders. A stock purchase agreement was signed on Decem-ber 21, 2007 and the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2008. JUWE's estimated 2007 revenue was approximately $3 million. Purchase price details were not disclosed.
JUWE was established in 1997 by a dedicated group of founders with many years of experience in combustion analysis of the CHNOS light elements (Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Sulfur), as a suc-cessor organization to Stroehlein AG, which closed down in 1997. JUWE initially provided service and support for the large installed base of Stroehlein systems, and in 2004 launched a new generation of JUWE-branded combustion analysis systems. JUWE, located in Viersen, Ger-many, today develops, manufactures and distributes advanced combus-tion analysis systems for various C, H, N, O and S elemental analysis applications.
After the closing of the planned acquisition of JUWE by Bruker AXS in early 2008, it is anticipated that a renamed Bruker JUWE GmbH will systematically transfer its R&D, production, service and customer appli-cations, demonstration and training center to Kalkar, Germany. At the combined Kalkar facility, Bruker JUWE together with spark-OES com-pany Bruker Quantron GmbH will form a center of excellence for ele-mental analysis, particularly for metals analysis applications.
