Elementar acquires the Gas IRMS product line from GV Instruments
Elementar Analysensysteme, Germany, the leading manufacturer of elemental analyzers has signed an agreement to acquire the Gas IRMS product line from GV Instruments Limited (UK), a wholly owned subsidiary of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (US).
Isoprime Ltd., the new 100% daughter of Elementar, will continue to manufacture, support and develop the Isoprime product line of instruments and peripherals for stable isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) in Manchester, UK.
Based on the VG/Micromass tradition, representing 34 years experience in IRMS instrumentation, the Isoprime Gas IRMS system is the latest instrument in the line of products which have always represented the benchmark in Gas IRMS technology.
Hundreds of installations worldwide make the Isoprime one of the most well known instruments of its class as a powerful tool in geology, environmental control, food authenticity investigations, life science and forensic analysis.
Elementar is based on 110 years tradition in the development and manufacturing of analyzers for organic elements such as carbon, sulfur, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen in chemical, agriculture and soil analysis, environmental protection and many other areas of research and quality control.
An increasing number of Gas IRMS systems are sold in combination with elemental analyzers. Over the last several years, Elementar has been active in Gas IRMS applications for its products. We have developed totally new solutions in the Gas IRMS field, such as simultaneous multi-element analysis of C, H, N, S isotopes, analysis of macro and micro samples as well as new solutions for 18O analysis of high nitrogen containing compounds.
Significant synergies and benefits to customers will result from the joining of the many years of expertise in these two analytical technologies. The integrated sales and service organizations of the two companies results in a distributor network in over 60 countries worldwide.
Isoprime Ltd. will maintain its own R&D team as well as highly qualified application scientists for the entire instrumentation and application range of Gas IRMS analysis. This team in coordination with Elementar's existing R&D and applications team will result in further developments in technologies and applications.
