PerkinElmer Honored As Instrument Company Of The Year
PerkinElmer, Inc. announced that leading industry research firm Frost & Sullivan has named PerkinElmer the 2003 Analytical Instrumentation Company of the Year.
The Frost & Sullivan award cited PerkinElmer for its leadership and commitment to the analytical instrument market across a multitude of industries, and noted that PerkinElmer products such as the ELAN® DRC II, Spectrum Spotlight™ Imaging System, and LABWORKS™ Enhanced Security™ (ES) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) have made a significant mark in the instrument industry.
"PerkinElmer"s accomplishments in the analytical instrumentation marketplace can be attributed to its presence in diverse markets, its wide product portfolio, and innovative product line complemented by strategic acquisitions and divestitures," said Shekar Gopalan, vice president of research at Frost & Sullivan. "To be such a strong leader in so many different product segments is a distinction for the company in itself, and further justifies the reasons for being the recipient of this award."
Gopalan also noted that "at a time when several vendors in the analytical instrumentation industry are in the throes of the severe economic downturn, PerkinElmer has uniquely managed to remain on track. It has become a global technology leader in the instrumentation industry, and consistently leads in several product markets based on separation technologies, molecular analysis and elemental analysis."
"This award reflects the results of PerkinElmer"s ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and consistently developing innovative new products," said Gregory L. Summe, chairman and chief executive officer, PerkinElmer. "The Frost & Sullivan research also validates our strategy of extending our technology leadership deeper into the high-growth life and analytical science markets."
To select an award recipient in the analytical instrumentation industry, Frost & Sullivan examined eight key criteria, including technological innovation and leadership, customer satisfaction and loyalty, market share growth, and success in executing a restructuring initiative. Analysts tracked competitor revenue and market share through interviews and extensive research of proprietary data sources. Finally, competitors were compared and ranked for relative position, and the award was presented to the company with the resulting highest industry rank.
