Newly developed method makes the dynamics of larger, insoluble proteins visible
Proteins perform vital tasks in all organisms. In doing so, they often alter their three-dimensional structure so that they can interact with different binding partners. A German-French research team including Jülich scientists has now developed a method that analyses these dynamic processes in larger, insoluble proteins with atomic precision for the first time.
This could lead to new findings on the relationship between the shape and function of these proteins and contribute to a better understanding of the processes responsible for the development of Alzheimer's and other diseases. The study has been published as a "very important paper" in the chemistry journal Angewandte Chemie.
