PostDoc Biochemistry / Molecular Biology (m/f/d)

  • PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical biology or a related discipline with a strong background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and cell biology techniques
  • Experience in molecular biology methods (genetic analysis, qPCR, plant transformation) and biochemistry (protein-RNA interaction analysis, protein purification, synthetic biology)
  • Knowledge in analytics is an advantage
  • Experience with plant model systems and plant tissue culture is helpful
  • Knowledge in mRNA metabolism, RNA processing, RNA sequencing (NGS) and ideally previous experience in working with chemical probes is an advantage
  • Manage a project based on mRNA splicing in plants - in detail characterize and modify RNA splicing events in plant model systems such as Arabidopsis or Nicotiana
  • Independently design and establish novel assays for evaluating splicing modulation for agrochemical applications
  • Evaluate and implement preliminary steps for further high-throughput in-vitro screening on developed assays
  • Keep awareness of scientific developments in this field, plan experiments, evaluate, interpret, present and publish scientific results
  • Actively interact with bioinformaticians, structural modelers, chemists, biochemists and biologists in an interdisciplinary life science project across Bayer divisions (Crop Science and Pharmaceuticals) and sites
