Formulation Scientist (m/f/d)

Your Qualifications:

  • You will hold a degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline, providing a strong theoretical foundation to support laboratory work, scientific problem-solving, and development activities.
  • You will have a sound and practical understanding of Organic Chemistry, with the ability to apply core principles to pharmaceutical drug design, molecular evaluation, and experimental interpretation.
  • You will have experience in Material Science, supported by familiarity with analytical tools, characterisation techniques, and the practical application of these methods within a technical or multidisciplinary scientific environment.
  • You will bring experience in traditional analytical techniques as well as modern instrumental methodologies, with hands-on capability using equipment such as particle size analysers, PXRD, DSC, and TGA, alongside a strong working knowledge of analytical methods, data-handling tools, and scientific best practice.

Your Tasks:

  • As a Formulation Scientist, you will support the development of oral solid dosage forms through the planning and execution of small scale manufacturing and pre formulation activities. This includes setting up and operating equipment, completing clean downs, and delivering high quality laboratory work across blending, compression, coating, encapsulation, and in use stability studies.
  • You will carry out a range of product and materials characterisation activities, including particle size analysis, tablet performance testing, powder flow assessments, and the evaluation of formulation attributes such as rheology and polymer behaviour.
  • As a Formulation Scientist, you will interpret experimental data and translate findings into clear, scientifically robust documentation, contributing to laboratory reports, development protocols, technical summaries, and other project critical deliverables.
  • You will support the design, prototyping, scale up, and optimisation of drug product formulations and their associated manufacturing processes, while also contributing technical insight to downstream activities such as control strategy development, technology transfer, and launch readiness.
  • As a Formulation Scientist, you will take ownership of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, ensuring routine calibration, upkeep, and troubleshooting, while driving continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining full compliance with ALCOA principles through electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • You will research, consolidate, and evaluate information from internal reports, pharmacopeial references, scientific literature, and technical databases to inform formulation development, support gap analysis, and enhance scientific decision making across projects.
