Basic training course Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

Target group:

Scientists and engineers from industry and academia who want to develop or consolidate a basic working knowledge in Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. An understanding of basic chemistry and physics is prerequisite.

Seminar goals:

Nowadays Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is very popular, as it is a non-desctructive and important measuring technique. It is used comprehensively in the characterization of materials, surfaces or electrochemical processes. Typical areas of application are:

  • Energy storage and conversion (batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, electrolysis)
  • Sensors
  • Elektrosynthesis
  • Corrosion research and examination of coatings

Basic knowledge is required for applying the measuring technique, evaluation and interpretation of measurement data. This knowledge is taught step by step in the two-day course and applied and illustrated in practical experiments.

  • Theoretical basics of electrochemistry and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy
  • Measuring technique and instrumental know-how
  • Setting-up and running impedance measurements
  • Data visualization (Nyquist- and Bodeplot) and data analysis
  • Application examples
  • Best practice and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on training and demonstration experiments
